THE DAUGHTERS OF THE DAUGHTERS OF THE DAUGHTERS
In 2026, Flup will take place from September 23rd to 27th and will reach its 16th edition, guided by the theme " The Daughters of the Daughters of the Daughters ".
Inspired by the work and trajectory of Ana Maria Gonçalves , the first Black woman elected to the Brazilian Academy of Letters and honored in this edition, the Festival invites the public to reflect on the legacies that span generations, the stories that resist erasure, and the women who, throughout time, have given birth to much more than children: they have given birth to communities, knowledge, languages, territories, and futures.
For five days, the Carlos Gomes Theater and Tiradentes Square will host literary panels, performances, discussion groups, rap and skit battles, book launches, slams , Afro-Brazilian religious groups, blessings from elders, dance competitions (passinho and altinha), playful experiences, a fair featuring Bahian women, and plenty of samba.
Now, Flup celebrates stories in the tide of memory!

ABOUT FLUP
Flup – Festa Literária das Periferias is an international literary festival whose main characteristic is to take place in territories traditionally excluded from literary programs, in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
We pass by Morro dos Prazeres, Vigário Geral, Mangueira, Babilônia, Mangueira and Vidigal, until we reach the city center, embracing the region that the sambista Heitor dos Prazeres named “Little Africa”. We held the 2018 edition at the State Park Library and the 2019 edition at the Rio de Janeiro Museum of Art. In 2020, due to covid-19, FLUP was held on digital platforms, transcending territories and impacting the whole of Brazil and 7 other countries.
