Flup 2026
The Daughters of the Daughters of the Daughters
In 2026, FLUP will take place from September 23 to 27, marking its 16th edition under the theme “The Daughters of the Daughters of the Daughters.”
Inspired by the work and journey of Ana Maria Gonçalves, the first Black woman elected to the Brazilian Academy of Letters and this edition’s honoree, the Festival invites audiences to reflect on the legacies passed down through generations, the stories that resist erasure, and the women who, throughout history, have given birth to much more than children: they have given birth to communities, knowledge, languages, territories, and futures.
Over five days, Teatro Carlos Gomes and Praça Tiradentes will host literary panels, performances, conversations, rap and short-play battles, book launches, slams, afoxé groups, blessings from elders, passinho and altinha championships, playful cultural experiences, a baiana market, and plenty of samba.
Now, FLUP celebrates stories in the tide of memory!
